Shelter in Place - When staying home may not be safe.

Dear Friend,

Reflecting on these past many weeks of “shelter in place” one cannot begin to fathom the impact on victims of violence and abuse being sheltered together with their abuser. This is my deepest concern and the one we are bracing for at YWCA Sonoma County. There will be an increased need for our services to support our local community.

Calls to YWCA’s 24/7 domestic violence crisis hotline are expected to rise as we continue to advocate, support and provide resources to local families in need. Our confidential Safe House has remained open and continues to be ready to house and care for mothers and children experiencing violence in their own homes.

This Mother’s Day gives us the opportunity to honor and remember the women in our own lives who have sheltered us from harm. Today I am asking for your donation in support of our programs which directly benefit local mothers and children in our community seeking shelter and refuge from domestic violence.
